Orlando Connects

The City of Orlando is committed to connecting residents to vital resources and information that will help them weather this economic crisis.

To accomplish this, the City will:

• Host a Strengthen Orlando website with “Helpful Links for a Down Economy.” The site will link residents to existing local resources.
   
• Promote Heart of Florida United Way’s 2-1-1 Community Resource Phone Line a 24-hour-a-day service referral program throughout Central Florida.
   
• Partner with Heart of Florida United Way and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to promote the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Program that ensures residents get the tax return they deserve. In addition, offer residents free tax preparation sites to save residents money when filing their taxes.

Partner and promote Discount Prescription Card Programs to offer savings to residents on needed medications.   Mayor Dyer will host Strengthen Orlando Responding Tours with District Commissioners, City staff members and partner agencies from across Central Florida to hear from residents and offer direct resources and information.

• Increase awareness about OUC’s Project Care that provides emergency utility assistance to customers who are in danger of losing their utility service. Encourage OUC customers to donate to the program - an amount that is matched $2-to-$1 by OUC.
